Cashier Resume Example

Cashier hiring is fast and practical: a store manager scans for three things — can you be trusted with the drawer, can you move a line, and will you actually show up. Your resume’s job is to answer all three in the first few lines.

Numbers do the convincing. Transactions per hour, drawer accuracy streaks, and loyalty or upsell figures are the metrics stores already track, so they are the metrics your resume should quote. "Balanced till, zero discrepancies over 14 months" beats any adjective you could pick.

After that come systems and schedule. Naming the POS platforms you have used (NCR, Square, Lightspeed) says you will need less training, and stated availability — weekends, holidays, closing shifts — is often the tiebreaker between two equal candidates.

What matters for a cashier resume

The drawer number is the whole game

Cash-handling trust is quantifiable. "Balanced till, zero discrepancies over 14 months" tells a manager everything; "responsible with money" tells them nothing.

Transactions per hour is your speed metric

Managers know exactly what a fast lane looks like. Put your transactions-per-hour or per-shift volume on the page so they can picture you on their register.

Loyalty and upsell numbers get interviews

Stores run on attachment metrics now. Signup counts and attach rates show you sell at the register, not just scan — that is what gets you full-time hours.

Availability is a skill — say it

Open availability, weekends, holidays: for hourly retail, the schedule you can work is half the hiring decision. Put it in your summary or a bullet, not just the application form.

FAQ

Do cashier resumes really need numbers?

Yes — the role is measured, so your resume should be too. Transactions per hour, drawer size, discrepancy streaks, and loyalty signups are all things a hiring manager can compare directly across candidates.

Should I list the POS systems I have used?

Yes. NCR, Square, Toast, Lightspeed — every system you name is one less week of training a manager expects to give you. One grouped skills line is enough.

How do I show reliability without sounding boring?

Quantify it: attendance streaks, months with a balanced drawer, audit results, shifts picked up on short notice. Reliability with numbers reads as professionalism, not filler.
