Sales Representative Resume Example

Sales is the one field where the resume is graded almost entirely on numbers, and everyone reading it knows which numbers matter: quota attainment, revenue closed, deal size, ranking against the team. A sales resume without them reads like it is hiding something.

Put attainment as a percentage of quota, not just a dollar figure, because a dollar figure means nothing without the target it was measured against. Then show what kind of selling you did, since inbound, outbound, transactional and enterprise are different jobs.

What matters for a sales representative resume

Lead with quota attainment

Write it as a percentage and a year: "118% of quota in 2025". It is the first thing a sales manager looks for, so it belongs in your summary and your most recent role.

Say how you sell, not just what

Outbound prospecting, inbound qualification, account management and enterprise cycles need different skills. Name your motion, your typical deal size and your sales cycle length.

Rankings travel well

"#2 of 14 reps" is easy to understand for someone who has never heard of your company. President’s Club or similar awards belong on the resume too.

Name the CRM

Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong: if the posting mentions them, list the ones you actually use. They are common keyword filters for sales roles.

FAQ

What numbers should go on a sales resume?

Quota attainment as a percentage, revenue closed, average deal size, and your ranking on the team. Pipeline generated and conversion rates help for SDR and BDR roles, where you set meetings rather than close deals.

What if I missed quota one year?

You do not have to report every year. Lead with your strongest period and your other wins, such as largest deal or best quarter. If an interviewer asks about a weak year, explain the context honestly there.

How do I move from retail to B2B sales?

Translate what you did into sales language: upselling, hitting targets, handling objections, repeat customers. Show any number you were measured on, and name the CRM or point-of-sale tools you learned quickly.
