Graphic Designer Resume Example
For designers the portfolio does most of the persuading, and the resume has a narrower job: get you past the screen, show your range and seniority, and send the reader to the portfolio. That means a clean, readable layout matters more than a decorative one.
A resume that tries to be a portfolio piece often fails the parser and slows the reader down. Keep the design restrained, put the portfolio link where nobody can miss it, and use the bullets to show results the images cannot: launches, conversion, brand consistency, deadlines met.

What matters for a graphic designer resume
Portfolio link in the contact line
It is the most important line on the page. Make it short, make sure it works, and point it at your three strongest projects rather than everything you have made.
Describe outcomes, not just deliverables
"Designed the landing page" is a task. "Redesigned the landing page; sign-ups rose 22%" connects your work to the business, which is what a hiring manager wants to hear.
Let the layout stay quiet
Text in images, icons standing in for words and multi-column layouts can confuse applicant tracking systems. A clear, well-set page already shows design judgment.
Name the tools and the range
Figma, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects: list what you use. Then show the range of work, such as brand, digital, print and motion.
FAQ
Should a graphic designer resume be creative?
Restrained is safer. A clean, well-structured page shows design judgment and is read correctly by tracking systems. Save the visual work for the portfolio, which you link from the resume.
What should a graphic designer include on a resume?
A portfolio link, a summary of your specialty, experience with results and the type of work you produced, your design tools, and education. Freelance work counts as experience if you describe it like a job.
How do I list freelance design work?
As one role, such as "Freelance Graphic Designer", with dates and a few bullets naming representative clients and outcomes. It reads as steady experience instead of a scattered list of gigs.
